There was no surprise in Santiago where Leones (4-4) were defeated by Metros (7-1) 106-94 on Saturday. Metros looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Metros made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for center Eloy Vargas (211-88, college: Kentucky, agency: Duran International) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds. American guard Ramon Galloway (190-91, college: La Salle) helped adding 27 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was Diego Moquete (-95) with 14 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized American Eddy Polanco (190-94, college: SE Louisiana) scored 16 points. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Metros will meet Reales (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Leones will play against Titanes (#5) in San Cristobal and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
