Regular Season Round 4: Caneros - Reales 102-97

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Caneros (7-2) beat 8th ranked Reales (3-5) in La Romana 102-97 on Tuesday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Caneros dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Reales' 26. They outrebounded Reales 51-39 including 17 on the offensive glass. Caneros looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The winners were led by Jaison Colome (190-96) who scored that evening 26 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and naturalized Spanish center Jhonatan Araujo (208-96) supported him with 14 points and 16 rebounds. Even a double-double of 20 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks by American forward Raphiael Putney (207-90, college: UMass) did not help to save the game for Reales. Nigerian-American George Williams (198-90, college: WBU) added 29 points for lost side. Five Caneros and four Reales players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Caneros maintains second position with 7-2 record behind leader Metros. Loser Reales dropped to the sixth place with five games lost. Caneros will meet league's leader Metros in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Reales will play against Indios (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
