Regular Season Round 22: Guaynabo - Ponce 109-106

The most exciting game of round 22 in the BSN took place in Guaynabo. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of one of their biggest challengers Leones (9-8) to fourth ranked Mets (6-10) 109-106 in the game for the fourth place. Mets made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American point guard David Stockton (180-91, college: Gonzaga) had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 11 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Panamanian forward Tony Bishop (201-89, college: Texas St., agency: 011 Sports) chipped in 24 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side the former international guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-91, agency: Interperformances) responded with 30 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and guard Ismael Cruz (190-1, college: Indian Hills) scored 19 points. Five Mets and four Leones players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Mets maintains fourth position with 6-10 record which they share with defeated Leones. Leones at the other side dropped to the fourth place with eight games lost. Mets are looking forward to face higher ranked Indios (#3) in Mayaguez in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Leones will play at home against Grises and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
