Regular Season Round 4: Metros - Soles 100-94
Date: August 25, 2021
Not a big story in a game when 8th ranked Soles (4-7) lost to first ranked Metros (8-2) in Santiago 94-100 on Wednesday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Metros dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Soles' 22. They outrebounded Soles 34-17 including a 22-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Metros looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The winners were led by center Eloy Vargas (211-88, college: Kentucky, agency: Duran International) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Adris De Leon (180-84, college: EWU) supported him with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Metros players scored in double figures. Metros' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 14 points and 7 assists by American point guard Jawan Davis (184-89, college: Claflin, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for Soles. Manuel Guzman (204-82, college: Bemidji St.) added 10 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Metros have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-2 record. Soles lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth place with seven games lost. Metros will meet at home league's second-placed Caneros in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Soles will play against Titanes in San Cristobal and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
