The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Metros (8-2) in La Vega on Thursday night. Visitors were edged by eighth ranked Reales (3-5) 94-92. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Metros. Reales made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Antonio Hester (199-90, college: Mobile, AL) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Raphiael Putney (207-90, college: UMass) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. Hester is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Forward Michael Watkins (206-95, college: Penn St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks and Robert Glenn (203-88, college: IUPUI) added 12 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Metros. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Reales moved-up to sixth place. Metros at the other side still keep top position with two games lost. Reales are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Indios (#8) in San Francisco in the next round. Metros will play at home against the league's second-placed Caneros (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
