Regular Season Round 23: Arecibo - Fajardo 77-64

Leader Capitanes delivered the fourteenth victory on Friday night. This time they beat 5th ranked Cariduros (7-8) 77-64 in Arecibo. It was a great evening for naturalized U.S. Virgin Islands point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 5 assists. The former international swingman David Huertas (196-87, college: Ole Miss) helped adding 18 points and 4 assists. Four Capitanes players scored in double figures. Dominican guard Rigoberto Mendoza (187-92) responded with 13 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Victor Rudd (206-91, college: S.Florida) scored 7 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Capitanes (14-4) have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place. Cariduros lost third consecutive game. Defending champion keep the fifth position with eight games lost. Capitanes will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Cariduros will play against the league's second-placed Brujos (#2) in Guayama and hope to secure a win.
