There was no surprise in Humacao where 6th ranked Grises (1-15) were defeated by fourth ranked Leones (10-8) 100-90 on Friday. Leones made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. It was a great evening for American-Ivorian center Deon Thompson (204-88, college: UNC, agency: BeoBasket) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 6 rebounds. The former international guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-91, agency: Interperformances) helped adding 24 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Leones' coach Wilhelmus Caanen used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Dinero Mercurius (193-94, college: FGCU) responded with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Felix Rivera-Vega (201-97, college: Georgetown, KY, agency: Paris Global Sports) scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Five Leones and four Grises players scored in double figures. Leones moved-up to third place. Loser Grises keep the sixth position with 15 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
