Regular Season Round 4: Soles - Huracanes 100-76

There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Soles (4-7) outplayed 5th ranked Huracanes (3-6) in Santo Domingo 100-76 on Friday. Soles outrebounded Huracanes 45-26 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by naturalized American guard Gerardo Suero (196-89, college: Albany) who scored that evening 29 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Nigerian-American power forward Maxie Esho (206-91, college: UMass) supported him with 22 points and 7 rebounds. Even 16 points and 6 rebounds by point guard Jaison Valdez (188-95) did not help to save the game for Huracanes. Naturalized American swingman Luis Jacobo (196-91, college: PFW) added 15 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Soles moved-up to fifth place. Huracanes lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. Soles will meet higher ranked Titanes (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Huracanes will play against Leones (#4) in Santo Domingo and hope to secure a win.
