Top ranked Capitanes (15-5) recorded its fifth loss in Arecibo on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Indios (11-10) 93-82. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Capitanes. It was a great shooting night for Indios especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Christian Pizarro (180-95, college: Miami Dade CC) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. International guard Jaysean Paige (188-94, college: WVU) chipped in 22 points. Nigerian-American power forward Chinemelu Elonu (206-87, college: Texas A&M) produced 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and the former international swingman David Huertas (196-87, college: Ole Miss) added 12 points and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Capitanes' coach rotated fourteen players in this game, but that didn't help. Indios maintains fourth position with 11-10 record. Capitanes at the other side still keep top place with five games lost. Indios are looking forward to face higher ranked Leones (#3) in Juana Diaz in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Capitanes will have a break next round.
