Everything went according to plan in Santo Domingo where second ranked Caneros (8-4) beat 6th ranked Soles (6-8) 79-74 on Wednesday. Caneros dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Soles' 32. The best player for the winners was Jaison Colome (190-96) who scored 22 points and 4 assists. American point guard Isaiah Swann (188-85, college: FSU) chipped in 20 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Nigerian-American power forward Maxie Esho (206-91, college: UMass) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and naturalized American guard Gerardo Suero (196-89, college: Albany) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Soles players scored in double figures. Caneros maintains second place with 8-4 record having just three points less than leader Metros. Loser Soles dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost. Caneros will meet Reales (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Soles will have a break next round.
