Regular Season Round 5: Huracanes - Metros 105-97

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Metros (10-3) in Puerto Plata on Thursday night. Visitors were defeated by fifth ranked Huracanes (5-7) 105-97. Huracanes looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Point guard Jaison Valdez (188-95) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners and American Tony Criswell (205-92, college: Missouri) chipped in 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Criswell is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Guard Brandone Francis (196-94, college: Texas Tech) responded with 26 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and center Eloy Vargas (211-88, college: Kentucky, agency: Duran International) scored 21 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Despite that victory Huracanes went down to sixth position due to points difference. Metros at the other side still keep top place with three games lost. Huracanes are looking forward to face higher ranked Titanes (#4) in San Cristobal in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Metros will have a break next round.
