Regular Season Round 27: Fajardo - Quebradillas 95-88

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Piratas (11-8) against fifth ranked Cariduros (10-8) on Friday night. Visiting Piratas were defeated by Cariduros in a tough game in Fajardo 88-95. Cariduros made 20-of-22 charity shots (90.9 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three nailing 15 long-distance shots on high 53.6 percentage. It was a great evening for Dominican guard Rigoberto Mendoza (187-92) who led his team to a victory scoring 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. International forward Emmanuel Andujar (197-93, college: Manhattan) helped adding 15 points and 7 rebounds. Four Cariduros players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American point guard Tu Holloway (183-89, college: Xavier) with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and the other American import forward Will Daniels (202-86, college: URI) scored 20 points and 7 rebounds. Piratas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Cariduros have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains fifth place with 10-8 record. Piratas lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the third position with eight games lost. Cariduros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Piratas will play at home against Leones and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
