Important game to mention about took place in Juana Diaz. Fourth ranked Leones (12-10) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 3rd ranked Piratas (11-9) 76-75 on Tuesday evening. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Leones made 24-of-26 charity shots (92.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Piratas turnovers. They brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. The winners were led by the former international guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-91, agency: Interperformances) who scored that evening 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and American-Ivorian center Deon Thompson (204-88, college: UNC, agency: BeoBasket) supported him with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks. Even a double-double of 24 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists by American point guard Tu Holloway (183-89, college: Xavier) did not help to save the game for Piratas. His fellow American import forward Will Daniels (202-86, college: URI) added 13 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Leones moved-up to second place, which they share with Mayaguez. Piratas lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth position with nine games lost. Leones will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Piratas will play on the road against Grises (#6) in Humacao and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
