Regular Season Round 29: Santurce - Fajardo 79-96

The game between third ranked Cangrejeros (10-10) and fifth ranked Cariduros (11-8) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. Cangrejeros were defeated by Cariduros in Santurce 96-79. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Cangrejeros. Cariduros shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 52.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Victor Rudd (206-91, college: S.Florida) who scored 27 points and 6 rebounds. The former international guard Guillermo Diaz (188-85, college: Miami, FL) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds. The former international forward Angel Alamo (206-85) produced 16 points and 8 rebounds and American Thomas Robinson (208-91, college: Kansas, agency: Network Sports International) added 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cariduros have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains fifth place with 11-8 record. Cangrejeros at the other side keep the third position with ten games lost. Cariduros are looking forward to face higher ranked Indios (#4) in Mayaguez in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cangrejeros will play on the road against Gigantes in Carolina and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
