Regular Season Round 30: Mayaguez - Quebradillas 97-109

Rather expected game when 5th ranked Indios (12-13) lost to second ranked Piratas (13-9) in Mayaguez 97-109 on Monday. Piratas made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American point guard Tu Holloway (183-89, college: Xavier) notched 36 points (!!!) and 7 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) to lead the effort and the former international Michael Rosario (190-90, college: Florida) supported him with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Piratas players scored in double figures. Even 21 points and 7 rebounds by American Brian Conklin (201-89, college: St.Louis) did not help to save the game for Indios. His fellow American import center Isaiah Austin (216-93, college: Baylor, agency: Slash Sports) added 23 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Despite that victory Piratas went down to third position due to points difference. Indios lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 13 games lost. Piratas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Indios will play against Gigantes (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
