Regular Season Round 30: Arecibo - Guayama 89-100

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Capitanes (16-6) in Arecibo on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by second ranked Brujos (16-8) 100-89. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Strangely Capitanes outrebounded Brujos 35-23 including 23 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 56.0 percentage. Brujos looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a good game for American power forward Ben McCauley (206-86, college: NC State) who led his team to a victory with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import guard Terrico White (196-90, college: Ole Miss, agency: Shark Sports Management) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Naturalized U.S. Virgin Islands point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) replied with 26 points and 8 assists and American forward Davon Jefferson (203-86, college: USC) added 14 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Capitanes. Five Brujos and four Capitanes players scored in double figures. Capitanes' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Brujos maintains second position with 16-8 record having just two point less than leader Bayamon. Capitanes at the other side still keep top place with six games lost. Brujos are looking forward to face league's leader Vaqueros in Bayamon in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Capitanes will have a break next round.
