Panteras used a home court advantage and edged the opponent from Panama City 60-58 on Sunday night. Naturalized American guard Ashley Reid (165-98, college: Wichita St.) notched 15 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Katie Caicedo (185-0) supported her with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Even 25 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists by Venezuelan guard Crismar Rojas did not help to save the game for LA U. Guard Mariangel Concha (-4) added 14 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. LA U's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Panteras' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Panama City to the arena Atletico.
