Third-ranked Piratas (14-11) gave a tough game to first ranked Vaqueros (20-2) in Bayamon on Thursday. Vaqueros managed to secure only three-point victory 100-97. However their fans expected easier game. Vaqueros made 26-of-31 free shots (83.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 24 Piratas turnovers. American forward Kristian Doolittle (201-97, college: Oklahoma, agency: Pensack Sports) had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and international point guard Angel Rodriguez (180-92, college: Miami, FL, agency: Shark Sports Management) chipped in 23 points, 5 assists and 6 steals during the contest. At the losing side American point guard Tu Holloway (183-89, college: Xavier) responded with 38 points (!!!) (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and his fellow American import forward Will Daniels (202-86, college: URI) scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Vaqueros have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 20-2 record. Piratas at the other side keep the third place with 11 games lost. Vaqueros are looking forward to face Gigantes (#5) in Carolina in the next round. Piratas will play on the road against the league's leader Capitanes in Arecibo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
