Top ranked Capitanes (18-7) recorded its seventh loss in Arecibo on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by fourth ranked Piratas (15-11) 77-75. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Capitanes. The guests trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 25-20 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Will Daniels (202-86, college: URI) who scored 27 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international swingman Alejandro Carmona (194-83) chipped in 8 points and 9 rebounds. Mexican center Gustavo Ayon (207-85, college: SJSU) produced 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Nigerian-American power forward Chinemelu Elonu (206-87, college: Texas A&M) added 7 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Piratas moved-up to third place. Capitanes at the other side still keep top position with seven games lost. Piratas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Capitanes will play at home against Grises and are hoping to win this game.
