A very close game took place in Fajardo between Leones and Cariduros. Third ranked Leones (17-12) got a very close victory on the road over second-ranked Cariduros (16-12). Leones managed to escape with a 3-point win 79-76 in the game for the second place. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Leones outrebounded Cariduros 57-29 including a 20-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Kenneth Faried (203-89, college: Morehead St., agency: Shark Sports Management) had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international point guard Carlos Rivera (187-83, college: Hofstra) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Leones' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Victor Rudd (206-91, college: S.Florida) responded with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and international forward Emmanuel Andujar (197-93, college: Manhattan) scored 22 points and 9 rebounds. Leones have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Defending champion Cariduros dropped to the third position with 12 games lost. They share it with Quebradillas. Leones will meet league's leader Capitanes in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Cariduros will play against Mets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
