Regular Season Round 5: Aguila - Santa Tecla 78-52

The most important game of round 5 took place in San Miguel between two undefeated teams where Aguila crushed Santa Tecla (4-1) 78-52 on Tuesday night. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Santa Tecla. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Aguila forced 22 Santa Tecla turnovers. Lee Vasquez (176-91) stepped up and scored 25 points, 5 assists and 6 steals for the winners and power forward Brayan Garcia (194-98) chipped in 12 points and 15 rebounds. Four Aguila players scored in double figures. Center Carlos Arias (200-89) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds and American forward Arsenio Arrington (206-96, college: Aquinas Coll.) scored 5 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Aguila have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with San Salvador. Defending champion Santa Tecla dropped to the third place with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Aguila. Santa Tecla will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Aguila will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked San Salvador at home.
