The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Vaqueros (25-3) in Arecibo on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by Capitanes (22-8) 82-74. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Vaqueros. It was a key game for the top position in the league. They outrebounded Vaqueros 38-26 including 25 on the defensive glass. Capitanes looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized U.S. Virgin Islands point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) who helped to win the game recording 27 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and Nigerian-American power forward Chinemelu Elonu (206-87, college: Texas A&M) who added 23 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Capitanes' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American forward Kristian Doolittle (201-97, college: Oklahoma, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Cuban center Ismael Romero (205-91, agency: Paris Global Sports) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Vaqueros players scored in double figures. Capitanes maintains first position with 22-8 record which they share with defeated Vaqueros. Defending champion Vaqueros still keep top place with three games lost.
