Regular Season Round 6: Brujos - Chalchuapa 103-76

Bottom-ranked Chalchuapa (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 103-76 loss to sixth ranked Brujos (3-2) in Izalco. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Chalchuapa's 40. Brujos forced 19 Chalchuapa turnovers and outrebounded them 49-33 including a 35-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Chalchuapa's players. Brujos brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was a good game for Guyanese-American center Anthony Moe (206-90, college: Millersville) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!), 25 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 blocks. Santos Romero (185-90) contributed with 21 points, 6 assists and 8 steals for the winners. Four Brujos players scored in double figures. Puerto Rican point guard Ryann Abraham (182-87, college: App State) replied with 32 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Willie Wiley (201, college: Evansville) added 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Chalchuapa. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Brujos have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place. Chalchuapa at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Brujos will play against higher ranked Fantasmas (#4) in San Vicente in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Chalchuapa will play on the road against Santa Ana (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
