The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Panama City: LA U (#6) and Atletico (#5). LA U (2-3) won against visiting Atletico (1-4) 92-81. LA U forced 28 Atletico turnovers and outrebounded them 50-37 including a 23-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. 29 personal fouls committed by Atletico helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Venezuelan guard Crismar Rojas fired 40 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Diobelis Batista (167-5) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Venezuelan point guard Nathaly Malpica (161) produced 27 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals and forward Tayina Ellis (-84) added 15 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. LA U moved-up to fourth place. Atletico lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with four games lost. They share it with Amazonas. LA U's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Panama City Aguilas.
