There was no surprise in Bayamon where 5th ranked Gigantes (5-25) were defeated by first ranked Vaqueros (27-3) 97-88 on Saturday. Vaqueros looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Power forward Owens Perez (206-92) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 23 rebounds for the winners and guard Victor Carattini (185-92, college: PR-Bayamon) chipped in 30 points and 5 rebounds. American point guard Kalin Lucas (185-89, college: Michigan St.) responded with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and international forward Derek Reese (203-93, college: Tennessee) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Gigantes players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains first place with 27-3 record. Gigantes lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 25 games lost.
