Regular Season Round 6: Atenas - Quimsa 63-72

There was a small surprise when fourth ranked Quimsa (3-2) won against second-best Atenas (3-2) in Cordoba 72-63 on Sunday. Quimsa made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. The former international guard Luciano Gonzalez (194-90) notched 17 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and the former international point guard Juan Brussino (185-91) supported him with 13 points (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). Even 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists by naturalized Italian center Omar Canton (205-82) did not help to save the game for Atenas. Daniel Hure (200-85) added 11 points and 9 rebounds. Four Atenas players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Quimsa moved-up to second place, which they share with Atenas and La Union. Quimsa will meet at home Olimpico (#4) in the next round. Atenas will play against Riachuelo LR in La Rioja and hope to secure a win.
