Regular Season Round 6: Penarol - Ferro 97-101
Date: October 10, 2021
There was a small surprise when third ranked Ferro (3-1) beat top-ranked Penarol (3-1) in Mar del Plata 101-97 on Sunday. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Ferro dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Penarol's 34 and made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. Tomas Sapano notched 26 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and Uruguayan center Theo Metzger (200-99) supported him with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Ferro's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) by Bruno Sansimoni (194-96) did not help to save the game for Penarol. Naturalized American power forward Phillip Lockett (202-88) added 17 points and 12 rebounds. Five Ferro and four Penarol players scored in double figures. Ferro have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Penarol and Platense. Ferro will meet at home league's second-placed Platense in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Penarol will play against Gimnasia in Comodoro Rivadavia and hope to secure a win.
