Regular Season Round 8: Penarol - Platense 70-75

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Mar del Plata where fourth ranked Platense (4-2) defeated one of their biggest challengers Penarol (4-3) 75-70 on Wednesday. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Platense made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Lucas Goldenberg (190-93) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and center Julian Aprea (210-87) who added 20 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Naturalized Italian swingman Federico Marin (199-82) responded with 21 points and American forward Al Thornton (203-83, college: FSU, agency: BIG) scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. Penarol's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Platense keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Penarol dropped to the second place with three games lost. They share the position with Atenas and La Union. Platense will meet at home league's second-placed Gimnasia in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Penarol will have a break next round.
