The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Aguila as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Aguila smashed 8th ranked Santiagueno in San Miguel 76-52. They outrebounded Santiagueno 56-32 including a 23-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Argentinian Ramiro Trebucq (204-95) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 15 rebounds. Ecuadorian power forward Carlos Delgado (202-90) helped adding 20 points and 7 rebounds. Four Aguila players scored in double figures. American Xavier Eaglin (201-97, college: PVAMU) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 17 rebounds and the other American import guard EJ Blackwell (193, college: Lourdes) scored 22 points and 7 rebounds. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with San Salvador. Santiagueno lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth place with seven games lost. Santiagueno will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Aguila will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked El Rapido in La Union.
