Arecibo rallied past Fajardo in the semifinal series opener. Capitanes dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Cariduros' 46 and made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Capitanes looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Mexican center Gustavo Ayon (207-85, college: SJSU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Naturalized U.S. Virgin Islands point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) contributed with 21 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American forward Victor Rudd (206-91, college: S.Florida) answered with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds and the former international guard John Holland (196-88, college: Boston U.) added 18 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Cariduros. Four Capitanes and five Cariduros players scored in double figures.
