Finals Game 1: Carolina - Santurce 70-59

Gigantes de Carolina grabbed 1-0 lead in the championship series. They eased past Santurce in the opener. The game was mostly controlled by Gigantes. Cangrejeras managed to win second period 15-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Cangrejeras to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Gigantes looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American guard Nicollette Gilday (175-92, college: Santa Clara) fired a double-double by scoring 15 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. American-Rwandan guard Tierra Henderson (178-87, college: UCLA) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. American power forward Rebecca Tobin (195-88, college: Arizona St.) produced 9 points and 17 rebounds and the former international point guard Dayshalee Salaman (163-90, college: LMU) added 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Five Gigantes and four Cangrejeras players scored in double figures.
