Regular Season Round 9: San Miguel - Santa Tecla 73-85

An exciting game was played in San Miguel. Second ranked Santa Tecla faced 4th placed San Miguel. Guests from Santa Tecla (8-4) defeated host San Miguel (2-10) 85-73. It was a good game for Dominican guard Genesis Evangelista (180-93) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Liliana Alvarado (172-97) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guard Melany Sanchez (167-4) answered with 24 points and center Gladis Maravilla (185-85) added 11 points and 14 rebounds in the effort for San Miguel. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Santa Tecla. They maintain second place with 8-4 record having six points less than leader FAS. San Miguel lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the fourth position with ten games lost. Santa Tecla will play against L.M.Mons. 2 (#3) in Santa Ana in the next round, which may be the game of the day. San Miguel will play against the league's leader FAS and hopes to get back on the winning track.
