There was a surprise result when nineteenth ranked Obera (2-4) outleveled at home higher ranked Obras (2-4) 107-80 on Wednesday. Obera dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Obras' 36. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Obera looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Obras' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Obera made 7 blocks. American guard Melvin Johnson (193-93, college: VCU) stepped up and scored 20 points and 9 assists for the winners and Facundo Giorgi (203-85, college: FIU) chipped in 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Obera players scored in double figures. Uruguayan forward Emiliano Serres (205-97) responded with 22 points and 6 rebounds and Uruguayan forward Joaquin Rodriguez (198-99) scored 14 points and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Obera moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with defeated Obras. Obera will meet at home higher ranked Gimnasia (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Obras will play against Platense (#20) in Florida and hope to secure a win.
