Regular Season Round 4: Pastoras de Lara - Caribenas 75-69

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Caribenas (3-3) against fourth ranked Pastoras de Lara (2-3) on Friday night. Visiting Caribenas were defeated by Pastoras de Lara in a tough game in Barquisimeto 69-75. Strangely Caribenas outrebounded Pastoras de Lara 45-26 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Caribenas were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Barbara Pico (-2) who helped to win the game recording 26 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Maria Sanchez (-98) who added 23 points during the contest. At the losing side the former international swingman Genesis Rivera (180-96, college: UMass) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and Ignali Blanco scored 9 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pastoras de Lara moved-up to third place, which they share with Patriotas. Caribenas at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the second position with three games lost. Pastoras de Lara will play against bottom-ranked Yaracuyanas (#5) in San Felipe in the next round. Caribenas will play at home against Patriotas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
