Santa Tecla forced 22 San Salvador turnovers. American-Puerto Rican guard Brian Vasquez (190-94) scored 42 points (!!!) to lead the charge for the winners and Vincentian center Akeme Smart (218-91, college: McCook CC) chipped in 9 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks during the contest. Santa Tecla's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dominican guard Bernardo Polanco (189-94) responded with 35 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and Puerto Rican power forward Owens Perez (206-92) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 17 rebounds. Four San Salvador players scored in double figures.
