An exciting game was played in Puerto La Cruz. First ranked Anzoategui faced 4th ranked Pastoras de Lara. Host Anzoategui (7-1) defeated guests from Barquisimeto (2-6) 59-46. Anzoategui made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Anzoategui outrebounded Pastoras de Lara 42-30 including 33 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Waleska Perez (180-94, college: Weatherford JC) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points, 18 rebounds and 8 assists. The former international Yosimar Corrales (184-90) chipped in 8 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was international center Dayenlys Veliz (179-0) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and Barbara Pico (-2) added 13 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Anzoategui maintains first position with 7-1 record. Pastoras de Lara lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourth place with six games lost. They share the position with Yaracuyanas. Anzoategui are looking forward to face Caribenas (#3) in Caracas in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Pastoras de Lara will play on the road against Yaracuyanas in San Felipe and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
