An interesting game for Caribenas (6-5) which hosted in Caracas 4th placed Pastoras de Lara (2-8). Second ranked Caribenas managed to get a 5-point victory 85-80. Caribenas outrebounded Pastoras de Lara 66-44 including a 48-30 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists. Caribenas brought some defensive toughness making 14 blocks. Pastoras de Lara was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for the former international swingman Genesis Rivera (180-96, college: UMass) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 21 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 blocks. Ignali Blanco helped adding 5 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists. At the losing side international center Dayenlys Veliz (179-0) responded with 24 points and 9 rebounds and Maria Sanchez (-98) scored 26 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Caribenas maintains second place with 6-5 record having just two points less than leader Anzoategui. Pastoras de Lara lost fifth consecutive game. Pastoras de Lara at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the bottom position with eight games lost. Caribenas will play against Patriotas (#3) in Barinas in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Pastoras de Lara will play at home against the league's leader Anzoategui and hopes to get back on the winning track.
