Brujos rallied past San Salvador in Game 1. Brujos made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 San Salvador turnovers. Strangely San Salvador outrebounded Brujos 48-31 including a 22-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Brujos made 24 blocks. American Quincy Scates (198-89, college: TWU) stepped up and scored 40 points (!!!), 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 blocks for the winners and his fellow American import forward Chris Blake (195-88, college: Detroit) chipped in 36 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 5 assists. At the losing side Dominican guard Bernardo Polanco (189-94) responded with 34 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Puerto Rican power forward Owens Perez (206-92) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 17 rebounds. Four San Salvador players scored in double figures. San Salvador's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help.
