Regular Season Round 25: Gimnasia - Obras 114-70

The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Gimnasia as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Gimnasia smashed 9th ranked Obras in Comodoro Rivadavia 114-70. Gimnasia dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Obras' 36 and made 21-of-27 charity shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Gimnasia players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Point guard Facundo Vazquez (185-98) stepped up and scored 18 points and 5 assists (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) for the winners and American guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) chipped in 20 points. Four Gimnasia players scored in double figures. At the losing side international power forward Lautaro Berra (208-98) responded with 10 points and 6 rebounds and the former international point guard Pedro Barral (187-94, agency: Duran International) scored 7 points and 6 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gimnasia (17-6) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Obras at the other side keeps the ninth place with nine games lost. They share the position with San Lorenzo. Obras will play next round against Platense trying to get back on the winning streak. Gimnasia will try to continue on its current victory against thirteenth ranked Olimpico at La Banda.
