Regular Season Round 25: UniFacisa - Pinheiros 87-85

A very close game took place in Paraiba between UNIFACISA and Pinheiros. Ninth ranked UNIFACISA (9-8) got a very close home victory over 6th ranked Pinheiros (9-12). UNIFACISA managed to escape with a 2-point win 87-85 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Pinheiros. American-Panamanian point guard Trevor Gaskins (188-89, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: Pro Sports) stepped up and scored 24 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and the former international Andre Bresolin (195-87) chipped in 20 points. At the losing side Gui Abreu (199-99) responded with 12 points and 7 rebounds and the former international Jefferson Andrade (207-83) scored 13 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Pinheiros' coach David Pelosini tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. UNIFACISA moved-up to sixth place. Loser Pinheiros dropped to the eighth position with 12 games lost. UNIFACISA will meet at home higher ranked Paschoalotto/Bauru (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pinheiros will play against Fortaleza and hope to secure a win.
