The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Quimsa as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Quimsa defeated their close opponent Gimnasia in Santiado del Estero 89-80. Quimsa made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American power forward Eric Anderson (204-1993, college: New Haven, agency: Duran International) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds. The former international Ivan Gramajo (193-1996) chipped in 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Quimsa's coach Sebastian Gonzalez used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international Sebastian Vega (200-1988) who recorded 20 points and 5 rebounds and Cuban forward Joaquin Mensia (198-1997, agency: Pro Sports) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Gimnasia at the other side keeps the third place with eight games lost. Gimnasia will play next round against Comunicaciones trying to get back on the winning streak. Quimsa will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Regatas in Corrientes.
