Regular Season Round 8: Racers - Lenadoras 57-66

The game had a very big importance for first-ranked Lenadoras as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Lenadoras defeated second-ranked Racers in Saltillo 66-57. Lenadoras shot 23 for 32 from the free-throw line, while Racers only scored seven points from the stripe. They outrebounded Racers 39-25 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. 27 personal fouls committed by Racers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Kala Green (175-1996, college: NC A&T) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and the other American import forward Shamika Singleton (185-1989, college: Concordia, TX) who added 9 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Mitzi Lopez responded with 19 points and 7 rebounds and Cinthya Solis scored 8 points. Racers' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Quetzales. Newly promoted Racers still keep top with six games lost. Racers will play next round against Teporacas trying to get back on the winning streak. Lenadoras will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
