Regular Season Round 8: Las Plebes - Quetzales 81-77

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 8th ranked Quetzales (3-5) were defeated on the road by ninth ranked Las Plebes (3-3) 81-77 on Sunday. Las Plebes made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American swingman Jessica Fairweather (178-1989, college: Queens, NY) who scored 32 points and 5 assists. The former international forward Sofia Moreno (185-1988) chipped in 15 points. Las Plebes' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Cuban center Clenia Noblet (190-1987) produced 29 points and 9 rebounds and American point guard Aniese Palmore (165-1994, college: UMW) added 23 points respectively for the guests. Las Plebes moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Atleticas and Mexcaltecas. Quetzales at the other side dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. They share it with Lenadoras. Las Plebes will meet league's leader Mieleras in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Quetzales will play against Escaramuzas (#4) and hope to secure a win.
