Date: April 1, 2022
The game between closely ranked teams ended with first ranked Quimsa's (25-8) road victory over second-ranked Gimnasia (24-10) 97-75 on Friday. Quimsa made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. The best player for the winners was American forward Reyshawn Terry (203-1984, college: UNC) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import guard Davaunta Thomas (196-1995, college: UAFS) chipped in 14 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Thomas is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Quimsa's coach Sebastian Gonzalez felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international Sebastian Vega (200-1988) produced 14 points and 5 rebounds and Cuban forward Joaquin Mensia (198-1997, agency: Pro Sports) added 15 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for the hosts. Four Quimsa and five Gimnasia players scored in double figures. Quimsa maintains first place with 25-8 record. Loser Gimnasia keeps the second position with ten games lost. Quimsa will meet at home Atenas (#17) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Gimnasia will play against Riachuelo LR (#11) in La Rioja and hope to secure a win.
