Very expected game in Izalco where 9th ranked Santiagueno (2-6) was crushed by fourth ranked Brujos (6-3) 100-71 on Saturday. Brujos dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Santiagueno's 40. Brujos forced 24 Santiagueno turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Brujos made 11 blocks. The best player for the winners was Dominican forward Xavier de la Rosa (196-1991) who scored 36 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Maxwel Mendoza chipped in 22 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. American-Colombian center Freddy Asprilla (206-1988, college: Canisius) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds and Kymanie Robinson added 12 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Brujos. They maintain fourth place with 6-3 record. Santiagueno lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with six games lost. Brujos will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Santiagueno will play against Nejapa (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
