Rather expected game when 7th ranked Gloria do Goita (1-4) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Vera Cruz (3-2) 63-58 on Sunday. Strangely Gloria do Goita outrebounded Vera Cruz 45-33 including 31 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Tassia Carcavalli (176-1992) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 5 rebounds (made all of her eleven free throws !!!) and forward Adrielly Oliveira (193-2002) who added 12 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Cuban point guard Ineidis Casanova (162-1988) responded with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Nicolle Chirinda (183-1996) scored 7 points and 14 rebounds. Vera Cruz moved-up to fourth place. Loser Gloria do Goita dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with Catanduva. Vera Cruz will meet higher ranked Santo Andre (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Gloria do Goita will play against Ituano (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
