Regular Season Round 1: Carolina - Quebradillas 70-79

There was a small surprise when Piratas beat Gigantes in Carolina 79-70 on Saturday. Piratas forced 21 Gigantes turnovers. American players dominated the game. Thomas Robinson (208-1991, college: Kansas) nailed a double-double by scoring 23 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and forward Jamil Wilson (201-90, college: Marquette) accounted for 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Piratas players scored in double figures. Point guard Tremont Waters (180-98, college: LSU) came up with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and guard Jordan Crawford (193-1988, college: Xavier) added 17 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Gigantes in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Piratas will meet Mets in the next round. Gigantes will play against Capitanes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
