An interesting game for Barreteras (4-8) which hosted in Zacatecas second-ranked Las Plebes (3-9). First ranked Barreteras managed to get a 8-point victory 77-69. Barreteras had a 21-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Las Plebes' players. Alma Dominguez notched 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and American forward Alexis Johnson (185, college: Indiana) supported her with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Even 17 points and 8 rebounds by American swingman Jessica Fairweather (178-1989, college: Queens, NY) did not help to save the game for Las Plebes. Sofia Montoya added 18 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the guests. Barreteras have a solid four-game winning streak. Despite that victory Barreteras went down to tenth position due to points difference. Las Plebes lost sixth consecutive game. They still keep top place with nine games lost. They share the position with Lenadoras. Barreteras will meet higher ranked Mexcaltecas (#7) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Las Plebes will play against the league's leader Phoenix (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
