Very important is a road loss of third ranked Penarol (24-13) against eighteenth ranked Argentino (14-23) on Saturday night. Visiting Penarol was crushed by Argentino in Junin 92-66. Argentino dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Penarol's 32. They outrebounded Penarol 40-28 including 32 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American guard Thomas Cooper (196-1992, college: Calgary) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 5 assists. Center Ezequiel Filipetti (200-2001) helped adding 12 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Al Thornton (203-1983, college: FSU, agency: BIG) with 14 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward Tevin Glass (206-1994, college: ETSU, agency: BIG) scored 7 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Argentino moved-up to seventeenth place, which they share with La Union. Loser Penarol keeps the third position with 13 games lost. They share it with Instituto. Argentino will meet at home higher ranked San Martin (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Penarol will play against Union SF (#19) in Santa Fe and hope to secure a win.
