Very important is a road loss of third ranked Capitanes (3-3) against fourth ranked Atleticos (3-5) on Monday night. Visiting Capitanes were defeated by Atleticos in a tough game in San German 72-80. Strangely Capitanes outrebounded Atleticos 45-33 including 34 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (201-1995, college: Arizona) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. The other American import guard Nate Mason (188-1995, college: Minnesota) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists. Five Atleticos players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Nigerian-American power forward Chinemelu Elonu (206-1987, college: Texas A&M) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 17 rebounds and international forward Jonathan Rodriguez (196-1987, college: Campbell) added 17 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Atleticos maintains fourth position with 3-5 record. Defending champion Capitanes keep the third place with three games lost. Atleticos will meet league's second-placed Piratas in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Capitanes will have a break next round.
